I had great results from Active Life Physical Therapy in Lutherville. First of all from the front desk to everyone else, are very pleasant. Also, a very relaxed atmosphere. I have used P.T. on 2 different occasions at A.L.P.T. Christina for the knee and Karen for the shoulder. Both of these ladies are very knowledgeable and very interested in helping their patient. As l looked around, the other employees seemed the same way also. If and when I need P.T. in the future, I will definitely go back to Active Life Physical Therapy in Lutherville. Great people!

An affirming and transformative experience from beginning to end. I started with moderate pain from sciatica. Priya, my therapist, did a thorough assessment and started me out with stretching exercises that extended my range of motion gradually. Throughout the eight weeks of treatment she adjusted my routine until I can confidently move without pain. I concluded my sessions with a camping vacation where I was able to do up to five miles daily without pain. Each of the staff with whom I interacted always wore a smile and focused on my welfare. My experiences during two sessions with an alternate therapist went smoothly, following Priya’s treatment plan. This was my first experience with physical therapy and it couldn’t have been better. I’m so grateful for everything.

I could give Active Life and Sports 100 stars if I was able. Mick, my PT was exceptional. He was extremely knowledgeable, patient with all my questions and very kind. He was innovative with my therapies and did everything in his power to help me. Ali another PT was awesome as well. She gave me some great tips with walking and was very supportive and kind. When my husband sustained a very serious neck injury the entire practice went above and beyond with support and kindness. The front desk staff are just phenomenal!! I could go on and on. I will say this it is rare very rare to find this kind of exceptional medical care in this day and age.

All the PT staff was great. Nicole, Mike, Ali & Mick are very knowledgeable & guided me thru my journey after my torn rotator cuff surgery In late April. I am now able to play baseball with my son, work out & play drums comfortably. I would highly recommend them to anyone in search of PT needs. Thanks to all the staff at Perry Hall Active Life

I have been dealing with pain in the back of my knee since last June after not warming up properly and attempting to run uphill. After starting physical therapy at Active Life a few months ago, I am happy to report that I am able to run without any pain! Josh was super helpful during my recovery and when something didn't work in my plan of care, he made sure to adjust it appropriately. I would highly recommend Active Life PT to anyone!

Jess, Emily and Josh were amazing in helping me to go from a total knee replacement to hiking again in less than 10 weeks. They supported me every step of the way. And everyone in the office, from the folks up front to the aides, were all friendly and delightful people. I recommend them without hesitation.

My experience at the Perry Hall location for Active Life Physical Therapy has been great all around! I was dealing with a lot of pain on my lower back including acute nerve pain radiating all over my body. I saw Joseph Palmer and very quickly the issue was resolved. He patiently listened to me and thoroughly investigated and worked on the problem. He taught me a series of exercises that I can tell align everything perfectly so that I can continue to enjoy my active life. I very much looked forward to my therapy sessions at the Perry Hall location because all the staff members are professional, kind and friendly — the energy is always upbeat and everyone seems happy to work there. Lastly, the facilities are comfortable and very well equipped.

Christina Penny is an OUTSTANDING physical therapist. On multiple occasions, she has help me work through various injuries coming from sports or work. There is a genuine care for her patients and a well-considered plan in getting them back onto the road to recovery. Her knowledge in the science of therapy is second to none. Going elsewhere would be doing yourself a great disservice.

I recently completed rehab for knee replacement surgery at Active Life Jacksonville and found everyone on staff to be exceedingly helpful and professional. In particular my therapist, Christina Penny, guided me through a three month rehab with skill, wide ranging knowledge, experience and a great attitude. I felt totally comfortable with every decision she made at every point in the rehab. Recovery from surgery is difficult enough but Christina and the folks at Active Life Jacksonville utilized a full team approach with total recovery the only acceptable outcome.

I wish that I could give more than 5 stars. These folks are the best. From the front desk staff with Rachael and Chris, to all the techs, to the physical therapists, I could not have asked for a better experience. PT John and Sydnie got my knee and shoulder feeling better and always made me feel welcome. They always kept the visits humorous and fun (except for that damn sled lol) while helping me heal up. They also get their technicians from Towson University, which is awesome. Every tech I dealt with was great and eager to assist and learn. Special shout out to techs Bella and Sydnia who had to put up with me the most. Best of luck to you in your future endeavors. I appreciate all that all of you did for me. Thanks.

I found out that I needed a total hip replacement on both of my hips in April 2021. As I am 61 years old and have never had any surgeries whatsoever, I was very apprehensive and nervous about the whole process. I went to Active Life Physical Therapy in Perry Hall to set up my pre-surgery and post-surgery appointments. The staff couldn't have been nicer. From the start, Stephanie explained what was going to happen after my surgery and what I should expect from the physical therapy. Mick, Stephanie, and Allie were the 3 therapists I saw regularly who worked with me to get me back on my feet. The technicians there who assist the therapists were also fantastic helping me. Everyone was always so friendly and courteous. The receptionists and schedulers in the office were equally friendly. The entire atmosphere was one of positive reinforcement as everyone was always upbeat and put the patient first. And not just for me. All of the patients were treated like with the utmost care and understanding. I completed my first round of therapy in 6 weeks so I could have my other hip replaced. The second round was just as successful in getting me back on my feet. If you have any reservations about physical therapy, you need to contact these folks as they will put your mind at ease and help you with whatever therapy you need. I can't say enough about how positive my experience was with this group and recommend them to anybody who needs physical therapy for their body.

As I began to find a solution for neck pain with my PCP, the topic of Physical Therapy came up as a solution. Right away I saw this as an opportunity to fix a problem affecting my life daily. From the moment Active Life’s Patient Care Rep reached out to begin scheduling my first appointments, I felt taken care of. Once my therapy began, I had a world of relief from neck pain that was seriously affecting my life, with each visit I felt more and more relief until I realized I was actually in better shape than before my Injury!

Before PT I was in major pain and could not do any of the activities that I enjoyed. It was so bad that even sitting for any extended period of time was not possible. Physical activity like golf, squash and pickle ball were drastically reduced. During each session I learned new exercises and stretches that helped with strength and mobility. After completing my sessions I am able to do all of the things I did prior to coming to Active Life PT. The team was friendly and explained everything in terms that were easy to understand. Scheduling was easy and flexible. I highly recommend Active Life PT in Jacksonville.

I came to Active Life Physical Therapy after I had knee pain from running. At first, I did not think it was necessary to come to therapy since at the time ... the knee pain seemed like a minor issue. However, after 6 weeks, I saw a marked improvement in my technique and now have little to no pain. If I ever do start feeling uncomfortable, I now have techniques I used in therapy that help relive the pain. I would recommend Active Life for anyone experiencing physical discomfort or pain, even if it seems minor.

My therapist had a calm welcoming voice, great listener, very patient and gave very clear direction in all of the exercises. I had problems with my left knee, standing was painful, I had to use a knee brace, could not do my exercises such as jump rope and could not shop for any extended period of time. I can now do all these because of the great experience with Joshua. My balance in my body also feels better and I have purchased a couple items that I can continue to use at home. I certainly appreciate Joshua's help and have recommended him to others.

Before physical therapy I ended the work week barely able to move. My back and neck were so sore and tired. I had experienced two separate car accidents and my back and neck were injured as a result. With each sessions I learned new strategies and exercises that strengthened my body and helped me to heal. Christina and Priya were amazing - they were both so knowledgeable and incredibly supportive! Week by week I felt stronger and experienced less and less pain. Now I am excited to make Friday night plans because I know I won't be experiencing discomfort! The end of my sessions all culminated into a pain free move into my new home. It is so exciting to be able to experience life pain free and it is all thanks to all of those who have supported my journey at Active Life!!!

After tearing my ACL I was having difficulty getting in and out of my car, going up and down steps, walking and standing for longer than 10 minutes, and completing everyday activities in my home and at work. I was really impressed with how much they listened to me and my issues & how they tailored my exercise program just to what I needed. Within a few weeks I was doing more and feeling so much better. It's been only 3 months since my injury and I am back to normal! Even my orthopedic Doctor was impressed. The whole active life team is amazing and I am very grateful for them!

I was timid about the thought of PT at the beginning due to the extent of my injury & repair. The whole Team was Awesome from the moment I walked in the door the first day until my last. They took the time to learn about the injury, repair made and my strenuous occupation that I needed to be able to get back to. Being a Firefighter, I need my ankles in top shape for every task that we complete and this Team made it happen. Looking back I appreciate the whole process.

"In October, 2020, I had a CT scan because of some GI issues I was having. The CT scan confirmed my doctor's diagnosis, but upon reading the report I was devastated to discover that I had severe osteoporosis in my spine with multiple compression fractures. I knew that without proper treatment it could lead to a life of pain and limited mobility since my mother suffered from the disease. I thought I had done everything to prevent this, with regular bone density scans, and eventually being prescribed Prolia, but was unaware that coming off this type of medication could lead to rebound compression fractures. I searched online and found the Healthy Bone Program at GBMC. I was told not to despair and that much could be done with new medications and a comprehensive physical therapy program. Their referral lead me to Active Life Physical Therapy. From the time I called the office to make an appointment, the entire staff was warm and friendly, always greeting me upon arrival for my appointments. I was assigned to Priya and from the very beginning she showed compassion and positivity that I could minimize the back pain I was experiencing, by increasing my back muscle strength. In addition by performing weight bearing exercises, we could improve my bone density. She also included exercises to improve my posture and balance to help prevent any future falls and potential fractures. She also incorporated advice and tips to take the unnecessary stress on my spine while doing activities of daily living. Active Life Physical Therapy also provided me with easy written printed out instructions to continue my program at home. I am so glad I was referred to Active Life PT. It is important that patients with severe osteoporosis and a history of compression fractures be treated by physical therapists who have the knowledge to guide us in our recovery. I am confident that as I continue my exercises at home, my back will continue to strengthen and I will be able to stay active and prevent this disease from decreasing my quality of life."

"Active Life in Lutherville has been my focus two or three times per week for the last nine months. Christina Bowden has been an unbelievably patient and competent guide back to my best self. I am sixty-five years old woman, former athlete who has had increasingly severe orthopedic challenges. Within a short seven months I had a total hip replacement, a total knee replacement, and an emergency three disk laminectomy. Any one of the three operations would have required intense physical therapy. Having three procedures at such a close interval required resetting and rebalancing my entire ability to move with strength, balance and confidence, and no pain.

I can stand, lift, carry, and balance with renewed confidence. This has allowed me to gradually return to my daily life of chores and fun pursuits. We have a small farmette with chickens, many cats, several dogs, and a pot-bellied pig. Being able to run the mower, use the tractor, and various other tools; as well as carry groceries and various bags of feed is a must. I may now garden, weed, and attend to my greenhouse that I could not even walk to for almost a year.

We live on the water and have a sixty-three-foot hill to walk to get to the boat. Being out on Chesapeake Bay is one of my greatest joys, which have not been able to comfortably enjoy for a few years. My love of golf has been rekindled now that I can swing clubs without pain.

The greatest outcome from my therapy at Active Life, has been balance and awareness of proper alignment and movement. I have better balance now than I have had for forty years."

After years of pain in both legs, Jim Hale, 53, ultimately decided to take his doctors advice and have total knee replacements on both knees. He was very apprehensive about having surgery, but was pleasantly surprised that post surgery he experienced very little pain. He attributed that, in part, to PT sessions at Active Life and Sports Physical Therapy prior to surgery. He was up on his feet with a walker beginning in-hospital therapy the very next day. He quickly progressed to a cane. He started outpatient physical therapy immediately following discharge from Sinai Hospital. He was amazed how fast his progression and outcome from physical therapy were.

Now, five months post surgery, he is exercising regularly and bowling pain free. He has also seen overall fitness gains which he has attributed to both the physical therapy and the post-care individualized fitness program that was designed for him as a gym member of the Active Life and Sports Fitness Center.

His original goal was to participate in the national Bowling Tournament in Reno, Nevada this June. He stated he feels 'as ready as he could ever be.' He attested to the fact he would have never reached his high levels of success without the staff of Active Life and Sports. Here at Active Life and Sports we are grateful for the opportunity to have assisted Jim and we wish him success throughout all his future endeavors.

James "Binky" Jones is an amazing man and athlete. He is a husband, father of two children ages 11 and 7, and works full-time as a vocational teacher for disadvantaged youth. And, at the age of 37 Jones is competing at the professional level in the sport of Mixed Martial Arts.

This is especially significant because his career was almost cut short by a neck injury in 2006. James lamented that "the pain was so severe that I thought I would never fight again". He had been unable to do any Jui Jitsu or Boxing moves without pain in his neck. He was even having difficulty sleeping at night. Jones had been dealing with this problem for almost a year and had been to a number of practitioners prior to coming to Active Life and Sports.

After several weeks of manual therapy and exercise, he was able to return to training and finally competition. In fact, Jones succeeded in becoming the Ring of Combat Lightweight Champion in 2007. He recently signed a professional contract for two additional fights. At Active Life and Sports we wish Jim the best in his career and in life. We are grateful for the opportunity to have made a significant contribution.

When we think of retirement activities we often think of leisurely days filled with chasing a golf ball, playing cards and shuffleboard or bachi. But, those kind of activities just don't cut it for Jim Young. At the age of 71 Jim continues to operate his business, "Herche's-Young Interiors Work Room" which creates custom draperies, upholstery and other related products. For fun he plays on "Hammels" a nationally competitive softball team in the 70-75 year old division. Hammels is a tournament team in the Triple A Senior Softball League.

Jim's softball career almost came to an end recently when his right shoulder became painful to the point where he was unable to throw. He sought the help of Dr. Alan Lanzo, Orthopedic Surgeon, who repaired his rotator cuff. He chose Active Life & Sports for his rehabilitation. Prior to his surgery Jim could do most daily activities but he could not throw a ball. Being able to throw again was the primary reason for undergoing this surgery. Jim stated "therapist Mike Wah gave me great confidence that he could help me to throw again". Jim participated consistently and aggressively in his rehabilitation program. He gained full range of motion and made great strides in gaining strength.

Much to his relief and joy he was able to return to participation with his softball team. In Jim's words "as a 71 year old softball player I am able to look forward to many more days of play and continuing to work in my business". At Active Life & Sports we are proud of Jim and his achievements. We are grateful for the opportunity to have helped him get back in the game of his passion.

Very satisfied with the entire staff and establishment.

My therapy could not have been more thorough."

Physical therapy in the past for my back problems didn't help, and I had to live with the pain for 15 years. The progressively worsening pain led me back to my doctor who recommended ALS for therapy. I feel better and am mostly pain free with the ability to independently manage my symptoms.

Patient D.B.

"The best physical therapy facility I have been at and I have been to quite a few. Nice people!

When I first came to ALS after total hip replacement, I was unable to lift my leg off the bed when lying down. After exercises in the gym and pool, I can now walk without any limp. My concerns were listened to carefully and addressed directly."

Patient W.S.

"Thank you for the wonderful therapy experience after getting my left knee replaced. You did an excellent job, as always. Everything was handled efficiently and with a personal touch. You have a great team at Active Life * Sports. All are caring and encourage you to do your best.

I would not hesitate to recommend your services to anyone. I am very happy with my new knee and my progress.

Again, thank you so much for everything."

I have known Mike for many years (more than 15 years) since he owned and managed Advanced Injury Management. I have always enjoyed working with Mike due to his knowledge, reliability and professionalism. In all the years, no matter if referred to Advanced Injury Management or now Active Life and Sports, I have always had a good outcome.

Mike and his staff pay attention to each individual's needs in order to motivate the patient to achieve the best outcome from the program (e.g., a patient who had some knowledge and background about fitness) with a shoulder injury and had surgery did not feel PT would add any value to his recovery. Active Life and Sports staff was able to change his view and cooperate with his therapy program and return to his regular duties.

Another strong point is their experience working with employees, which is a very important component in the Worker's Compensation. Active Life and Sports is able to provide on site work hardening program at the job site to avoid the patient being out of work again due to the attendance hardening program. I also intend to refer difficult cases or cases with specific requirements from employers to Active Life and Sports since I know that Mike and his staff's professionalism will get the job done.
