Lutherville

In 2016, Active Life began a joint venture with GBMC hospital and opened our office in Lutherville. This facility is conveniently located on the 4th floor of the Galleria Towers (Kaiser Building) at the corner of York Rd and Seminary Ave.

The 2,973 square foot facility provides Orthopedic Physical Therapy, Vestibular Rehabilitation, Pre/Post Operative Spine Care, Balance/Fall Prevention, Work Injury Management and Neurological Rehabilitation services.

Our Lutherville facility has both semi-private and private treatment rooms to help maintain confidentiality and privacy during your care.

As a leader in vestibular rehabilitation, we utilize the best technology available to provide a quick and accurate diagnosis. By using Video-Nystagmography (VNG) we are able to perform our vestibular tests with the aid of a google mounted camera. This allows for us to see intricate movements of your eyes and improves diagnostic accuracy.

The Solo-Step Harness System is a ceiling mounted safety system that allows our therapists and our patients to have complete confidence while performing advanced balance exercises. The ability to challenge our patients safely beyond their limits helps us to produce better balance outcomes.

Our Fit-Light Trainer enables us to perform agility drills that promote reaction, agility and balance. We utilize this tool for a variety of diagnosis and to provide a competitive component to any rehabilitation program.

“I have never considered my career as a Physical Therapist a job, but a vocation! I believe strongly in the healing touch. This involves not only a hands-on approach to evaluation and treatment but helping the patient understand the cause of their injury or impairments. I enjoy building lifelong relationships with patients and empowering them with the tools they need to live an active life.”

John has been a successful Physical Therapist since 1985. He has worked in private practice, hospital settings, as well as in the home health care environment, giving him a well-rounded perspective on patient care and patient communication. Not only is John a Certified Manual Therapist, but he also holds the Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) certification and is a Certified Myofascial Trigger Point Therapist (dry needling). Additionally, he is a certified Clinical Instructor for the American Physical Therapy Association. John has a strong interest in manual therapy, postural training, dry needling, and individualized exercise prescription. He particularly enjoys helping patients safely return to golf.

“I believe that one of the most important things I can do as a clinician is to be a good listener. I want to know how a patient’s quality of life is affected by the impairment that they are seeking treatment for. Then we can figure out as a team how to best treat that impairment to maximize their activity level so they can return to the activities they enjoy.”

“I think people are the most important aspect of healthcare. Every person from every walk of life will at some point need health care. We get to meet so many new people and they all come with their own experiences. I love when patients share some knowledge or tidbit of information I would have never learned otherwise. It helps me to maintain the mantra of being a lifelong learner. ”

Shameel has a strong passion for treating athletes and neurological conditions. As an athlete himself, he understands the desire and strong motivation to return to sport. He wants to be the athletes team member to accomplish the goal of return to sport. For the neuological population Shameel plans to persue  LSVT- BIG and CAFMT certifications to better serve the Parkinson's Diease community and master his manual therapy skills.

When he is not treating in the clinic, his hobbies include martial artist. He is an instructor in Lethewi. He is also an avid golfer, and loves watching sumo wrestling.
